FAQs
What kind of projects can FTL take on?
We support early-stage prototyping, small batch fabrication, and custom design work — especially low-volume builds with a mix of mechanical or electronic needs. In short, development work!
You can read about some of the types of projects we've done on our Case Studies page.
Do I need a finished design or CAD file to start?
Not at all. A sketch, photo, or concept is enough to begin the conversation. Our team can help translate ideas into manufacturable designs.
How much does it cost?
See Pricing above. All services are billed hourly + materials, with rates based on staff roles and usage. If you are within the University of Nebraska system, you are eligible for direct-cost internal rates.
Who owns the IP?
IP is generally retained by the client unless otherwise scoped. For university-affiliated work, consult NUtech Ventures.
Can students or faculty get training on the equipment?
Yes — we offer hands-on training and credentialed workshops. See Training & Workshops for details.
